Modern House Design of Riverhouse by ZERAFA STUDIO LLC

Project design in 2009, this house is built on 464.5 sqm project area. The main feature of the site of 1.85 acres facing the Niagara River just before the Horseshoe Falls is the long and uninterrupted view of the river along the 50m wide of the property. The 470m2 of interior space and 120m2 of terrace were designed to exploit this situation by seeking a balance between transparency required by the views and the privacy needs of owners.



The house consists of three horizontal volumes. The north-south mass of the building is defined by 2 lengths in which overlapping rectangular glass, cedar wood and stone-faced volumes are willing generate vacuum creating covered outdoor terraces. The enclosures are covered in aluminum panels and are mostly opaque to provide privacy on neighboring properties north and south. All exposed surfaces inside the enclosures are clad in cedar wood so as to offer a warm indoor environment.
